Eight Palestinian Christian theologians offer a crucial and vibrant perspective on liberation, reconciliation, and divine imagination, drawing on liberation theology, indigenous and decolonial theory. Written within the heart of suffering, the cross and the olive tree interpret each other in an unwavering hope, symbols of faith and homeland. The book includes an essay on ‘Co-Resistance’ by Daniel Munayer, CEO of Musalaha, which provides a succinct articulation of Musalaha’s approach to reconciliation.

Daniel Munayer, CEO of Musalaha, spoke at St Martin in the Fields on 31st March 2025 with Embrace the Middle East. Drawing on his Palestinian heritage, Daniel combines intellectual insight with practical skills to develop a decolonial and indigenous approach to reconciliation, emphasising freedom for the oppressed and redemption for oppressors.

Daniel Munayer spoke alongside Ben Jamal, director of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, William Bell from Christian Aid, and Chris Rose, director at Amos Trust. The panel was chaired by Phoebe Rison, previously Advocacy Officer at Sabeel Kairos and Country Director for IoPt at Christian Aid. The panel discussion looked at the shrinking space, both physically in Palestine and the civic space for those campaigning for Palestinian rights here in the UK.

Alongside Archbishop Justin Welby and Rev Sue McClellan, Embrace the Middle East, Daniel Munayer, CEO of Musalaha, spoke in London in 2023 on the topic of reconciliation.

As popular culture deems reconciliation irrelevant in settler-colonial contexts, particularly in the Palestinian struggle for justice, Daniel Munayer speaks on reconciliation from the position of the oppressed by working towards nonviolent co-resistance as a mutual form of liberation. Delivered in 2023 at Greenbelt Festival.

Journey through the Storm unpacks Musalaha's thirty years of practical experience building bridges, healing division, and following Christ in the context of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. An inspiring read offering insight into the theory, theology, and application of Musalaha's six stages of reconciliation through a collection of essays, curriculum excerpts, interviews, and real-life testimonies.

Palestinian Christians and Israeli Messianic Jews share a belief in Jesus as the son of God and Messiah. Often, though, that is all they have in common. The struggle for reconciliation is painful and often extremely difficult for all of us; this unique work seeks to show a way forward.

From a uniquely Palestinian Christian perspective, this book offers a theological framework through the concept of reconciling justice to facilitate better understanding for multiethnic, political, and religious encounters as a prophetic imagination for peace and reconciliation in the region.
