Thank you very much to everyone who attended our gathering in Bloomsbury. It was an invaluable time for reflection, fellowship and planning among our community of supporters.
Highlights from the Day
The day provided a great opportunity to revisit the core mission of Musalaha and the role that Musalaha UK plays in supporting this work. A deeply impactful highlight was hearing directly from Hiba Allati, Musalaha's Women's Programme Officer. Hiba shared candidly about the intense difficulties facing their team on the grounds - especially in areas like recruitment - but also the deep source of encouragement they are able to draw from one another.
Musalaha UK's Reset
Another key part of the day was a presentation of the process of evaluation that Musalaha UK has been doing of its work. We are aware that, as a volunteer-run organisation, our processes and supporter engagement have not been at the level we aspire to. As we move forward, we hope to strengthen our capacity to engage with you and serve the Musalaha mission.
To address this, Musalaha UK has undertaken a "reset" over the past few months with:
Improved infrastructure: We have completely redone the website and reorganised our database to help with clearer and more consistent communication.
Enhanced capacity: Roisin will be working one morning per week for Musalaha UK. This focused time will improve our ability to carry out supporter communications, improve the resources on our website, and, ultimately, better support the Musalaha team.
Looking Ahead
During the afternoon portion of the day last week, we opened up the discussion for feedback and suggestions regarding the future work of Musalaha UK. We came away with a rich array of suggestions to take forward. We don't want the conversation to end there, however. If you were unable to attend, or have had further thoughts since last week, please send any suggestions, questions or ideas you have to us!
